Aiming to donate bags of blood to aid the Nueva Vizcaya community, three scholars from Philippine Science High School-Cagayan Valley Campus initiated a bloodletting activity conducted in the PSHS-CVC clinic last November 8,2019.

The team invited Red Cross Nueva Vizcaya, headed by Ms. Chari Wachayna at PSHS-CVC to help them in conducting the activity.

Twenty-four students and faculty members volunteered in the event but there were eight volunteers who did not pass the initial screening for the activity.

“I wanted to help the community by donating blood for the patients. I know that this will have a huge impact in the long run” Vincent Albino, a PSHS-CVC student said.

The team was surprised to surpass their goal to have 15 blood bags when they collected 16 bags after the activity.

“We are beyond gratefukl for what transpired in the activity. We hope that more scholars will donate blood in succeeding activites,” Yvonne Supnet, one of the three scholars who led the event, said in an interview.

SCALE students who masterminded the activity were Ronald Cruz, Yvonne Supnet, and Summer Simplina.

This activity strengthens PSHS-CVC and Red Cross ties for it becomes a sustained bloodletting activity backed up by Red Cross Nueva Vizcaya that will take place in the PSHS-CVC clinic every card giving.#

Pursuing for truth and excellence, The Pisay Explorer, bagged the 6th Best School Paper in the Regional School’s Press Conference held in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya last November 17, 2019.

The publication won 7th place in News, 5th place in Editorial, 9th place in Features, 4th place in Science and Technology, 6th place in Sports, and 9th place in Layout and Design, surpassing its place as the 7th best school paper last RSPC 2018.

“Actually, this is all unexpected,” said Joaquin Constantino, managing editor of the said publication.

“The people behind the success of the school paper were beyond thankful for this achievement,” he added.

The Pisay Explorer’s Filipino counterpart, Ang Siklab, made its first ever appearance in the top three podium, securing the silver medal from the competition.

Both school publications are qualified for the National School’s Press Conference to be held at Tuguegarao City, Cagayan this coming February, 2020.#

Former Campus Director Dr. Efren B. Mateo hailed Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus’ quest for excellence and service to its stakeholders in his speech during the 23rd Founding Anniversary commemoration of the school, August 23, 2019.

"Excellence is never an accident; it is the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution and the vision to see the obstacles as opportunities", said the former campus director from 2000 – 2007.

He likened PSHS–CVC as a tiny seed planted on the right soil (Nueva Vizcaya) nurtured by its faculty and staff, parents and stakeholders as it grew into a gigantic tree with extraordinary fruits.

He also recounted the challenges and struggles of the campus in its years of growing up into an achieving institution not only in the region but also in the entire country.

"The biggest challenge was to attract students", alluding to the state of the school when its classrooms and offices were still in the abode of Nueva Vizcaya State University.

According to him, the school was noticed and gained prominence in the academe through the trainings, capability building, encouragement of teachers to pursue graduate studies and winnings of students in the national and international levels.

"With the highly developed school facilities, highly qualified and competent teachers and fully supportive staff and administration, PSHS-CVC is now a dream school for every pupil. Entrance to Pisay is now extremely competitive ," he said.

He punctuated his speech by challenging the scholars to respond positively to the “academic ripples and disturbances’ and use the experiences to serve the country.

Dr. Mateo is the guest of honor of the school's commemoration of its 23rd Founding anniversary, which is on July 3, 2019.

Loyalty awards were also given to faculty and staff who rendered 15 and 20 years of service to PSHS-CVC during the commemoration.

The awardees for 15 years of service include, Harold V. Gallo, Leopoldo B. Bernal Jr, Gil P. de Luna, Gaudencio M. Natividad, and Russel Owen B. Viloria.

Alice C. Manuel , Zenaida T. Manzano and Girlmelyn A. Javier round up the awardees for 20 years of service.#



With school pride at stake, team Marians clinched the championship game against the home team, Pisay Templars, 79–73 last August 2, 2019 at the school’s Multi–purpose Hall.

It was a close match until the Marians went on back to back treys to break the deadlock at 71–apiece under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter to create a cushion, 77–71, against the undermanned Templars.

Finals MVP Dennis Abosejo led the charge for the eventual champions with a stellar performance, 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a block.

The swarming defense of the Marians focused on Templars’ go to guy Harold Gallo in their attempt to limit his offense and tire him up.

“Their game plan was to cage and limit me on the offensive end, nakakapagod kasi madami silang nagsasalit – salitan para bantayan ako. Kahit talo I am happy that the tournament went well,” said Gallo who earned the Season MVP with his season average 23 points, 7.66 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.

Versatile point forward Jesse Brian Basilio and Mythical Five member Lucky Aron George Damaso helped the Templars in the offensive attack while Gallo was stifled by multiple defenders.

Gallo (Pisay), Abosejo (SMU), Damaso (Pisay), Michael Cabatin (Muirwoods Academy) and Wency Evangelista (SMU) round up the Mythical Selection of the season.

The maiden edition of the inter–school employees’ basketball tournament was participated by Saint Mary’s University, Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus, Muirwoods Academy and Purisimo L. Tiam College Inc. (PLTCI) and was sponsored by PSHS–CVC and Chicken George Restaurant.#
