An alumnus of PSHS-CVC was the guest of honor in the Recognition Day of Grades 7-11 for School Year 2022-2023 held on September 08, 2023 at the Multipurpose Gymnasium.

 

Dr. Adrian Salvador M. de Vera of Batch 2003 delivered an inspiring message to the student awardees, which also expounded the program’s theme “Strive for Greatness.”

 

De Vera underscored the importance to be great, especially for the PSHS scholars, but he stressed that students should not only work hard for greatness.

 

“Don’t just be great. More importantly, be kind, be compassionate, be virtuous,” de Vera highlighted.

 

De Vera is currently a pediatrician, lecturer in medical board reviews, and author of books.

 

He also pursues his interest in photography in line with his medical expertise by being a creative photographer for newborns and infants.

 

The Recognition Day acknowledged the efforts of the Grade 7-11 students who excelled in their academics in the past school year.

 

The perpetual director’s listers and the students who won in competitions and earned distinctions were awarded with medals and certificates.#



The Student Supreme Government (SSG) of Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus (PSHS-CVC) spearheaded a welcome party for the Grade 7 students on September 01, 2023.

 

The PSHS-CVC Multi-Purpose Gymnasium was filled with uproar as the four freshman sections made their way into the venue, welcomed by their upperclassmen who cheered for their respective former Grade 7 sections.

 

Mr. Erick John H. Marmol, the campus director, expressed his warm welcome to the youngest batch of the campus and encouraged them to make the most of their freshman year in CVC.

 

The four sections of the Grade 7 level also showed their best in their performances which include singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments that wowed the spectators.

 

PSHS-CVC alumni who are currently teaching in the campus were invited to share their experiences as former students. Mr. Mark Merrill Mesa (Batch 2008), Mr. Alvin Claine Viernes (Batch 2013) and Mr. Bryle Eusebio (Batch 2014) also shared advice and survival tips to the students in order to successfully hurdle high school life in Pisay.

 

The SSG officers also led fun games and activities that gave the Grade 7 students an experience to remember.

05_PSHS-CVC commemorates 27th founding anniversary  

The Philippine Science High School-Cagayan Valley Campus community celebrated the 27th Founding Anniversary commemoration on September 8, 2023 at the Multi-purpose Gymnasium.

 

Opening the celebration was the Holy Spirit Mass which was a thanksgiving for the school’s accomplishments through the years, and an invocation for blessings and guidance as the new school year begins.

 

The mass was followed by the program that highlighted the campus’ transformations in the last 27 years.

 

In his welcome message, Mr. Erick John H. Marmol, the campus director, lauded the entire PSHS-CVC community for its relentless efforts in advancing the welfare of students and for living the culture of excellence then until now.

 

The provincial governor, Hon. Jose “Jing” Gambito, represented by Hon. Roland Carub, board member of Nueva Vizcaya, sent his message of felicitations to the school, and the provincial government’s support to the campus, especially to students who create innovative projects that benefit the community.

 

Symbols of gratitude were also accorded to two of the distinguished personalities who have made PSHS-CVC to what it is today – former governor Carlos M. Padilla and Dr. Salvador B. Romo.

 

Padilla, during the time he was serving as representative of the Lone District of Nueva Vizcaya authored laws that established the Nueva Vizcaya Science High School, the precursor of now known as PSHS-CVC.

 

He also legislated the transformation of the NVSHS to one of the campuses of Philippine Science High School, and eventually its incorporation into the PSHS System.

 

Dr. Salvador B. Romo, who served as campus director from 2008 to 2021, propelled the campus to its infrastructure development, thus completing most of the buildings and facilities during his two consecutive terms.

 

Mr. Marmol recognized the unparalleled dedication of the two prominent figures of PSHS-CVC whose efforts have paved the way for the campus’ status to date.

 

The widows of the two fathers of PSHS-CVC were present during the program to receive the posthumous award of gratitude from the PSHS-CVC community.

 

Mrs. Ruth Padilla, the wife of the late Gov. Padilla, expressed her gratitude for the recognition that the campus conferred to his husband.

 

In her acceptance message, she assured that despite the loss of her husband, she will remain the mother of PSHS-CVC, and that she will continue to give support to the school, the same way that her husband used to extend.

 

“Kahit wala na ang Ama ng institusyong ito, huwag ninyong kakalimutan na nandito pa rin ang Ina,” Mrs. Padilla quipped.

 

Mrs. Catherine Romo, the wife of the late campus director Salvador B. Romo, recounted the instances her husband sacrificed much of his time for PSHS-CVC, and his unwavering commitment to enhance the human and physical resources of the school.

 

The Filipino Unit presented a creative reminiscence of PSHS-CVC through a video presentation with poetic transcript, encapsulating the campus’ metamorphosis and future opportunities.

 

Representatives from the different year levels also read their pledge and message of love for the PSHS-CVC.

 

The program concluded with a lively community singing of the song “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You” spearheaded by the PEHM Unit.#



The Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus (PSHS-CVC) teaching and non-teaching staff welcomed the 656 students for School Year 2023-2024 in an opening program on August 23, 2023 at the Multi-Purpose Gymnasium.

 

Dubbed as Sanib-Pwersa sa Panibagong Paglalakbay, the opening program for the new school year started with the flag ceremony, followed by the message of Mr. Erick John H. Marmol, the campus director.

 

Mr. Marmol sent his message of warm welcome to the students, inspiring them to be motivated as the new school year begins.

 

The division chiefs also took the floor for the introduction of the employees. Mr. Raymundo Manaligod, the Supervising Administrative Officer, introduced the staff of the Finance and Administrative Division.

 

Dr. Harold V. Gallo, the Chief of the Student Services Division, did the introduction of the SSD staff through a video presentation.

 

Mr. Garry Jun Mayawin, the Curriculum and Instruction Division (CID Chief) presented the teachers per academic unit.

 

The homeroom advisers were introduced by the respective homeroom coordinators: Mr. Asley Jan P. Gurat for Grades 7 and 8; Ms. Lorraine Gay R. Calixtro for Grades 9 and 10; and Ms. Precila C. Baclig for Grades 11 and 12.

 

Mr. Mayawin also presented the curricular offerings, student assessment, grading system, and PPTG guidelines.

 

In the afternoon, the orientation and re-orientation on the Code of Conduct was facilitated by the Discipline Officers, Dr. Heherson C. Tolentino for Grades 7-9 and Dr. Orcene D. Cancino for Grades 10-12.

 

The Homeroom Orientation and other HR activities were likewise conducted in the afternoon in the respective homeroom classes.#
