Muli na namang napatunayan ng ilang mag–aaral ng PSHS–CVC ang kanilang angking galing sa iba't ibang larangan matapos nilang magwagi ng ilang parangal sa Valleygsahan 2016 na ginanap sa Bambang National High School noong Disyembre 18-19, 2016.

Itinanghal na ikatlong pwesto ang PSHS–CVC na nakakuha ng pangkabuuang 25 puntos. Bagaman hindi napanatili ang kampeonato sa nasabing paligsahan ay bilib pa rin diumano ang tagapagsanay na si Gng. Christine Ordinario, sa ipinamalas na performans ng mga ito.

Ang mga parangal na natanggap ng mga estudyante ay ang mga sumusunod:

Quiz Show – Team A, Ikalawang Pwesto (Rench Consumido, Beaver Caraan, Christlen Olivares)

Ikatlong Pwesto – Team B, (John Lian Catli, Marthus Gombio, Domenico Rafael)

Debate – Ikatlong Pwesto (JB dela Cruz, Nicole Bettina Pascual, Jitka Quinagoran)

Essay Writing – Ikalawang Pwesto (Trigger Balitang)

Pagsulat ng Sanaysay – Ikalawang Pwesto (Angelica Gabatino)

Dagliang Talumpati – Ikalawang Pwesto (Diana Jean Daguro)

Ang Valleygsahan ay isang taunang patimpalak na inoorganisa ng UP Lambak, isang organisasyon ng mga estudyante ng UP Diliman na mula sa ikalawang rehiyon.

The Book Week celebration commenced on November 14, 2016 with the simultaneous installations of fREADom boards at the Academic Building 1 Lobby and fREADom walls at the Library. School Librarian Mrs. Graziella Villa facilitated the awarding of certificates of recognition to the Library’s loyal patrons and certificates of appreciation to its generous donors.

Likewise, students enjoyed in the two–day book bazaar made in cooperation with the Library as partners Philippine Christian Book Store (PCBS) and National Bookstore displayed and sold a variety of reading and writing merchandise.

Meanwhile, books came to life as PSHS–CVC held the much–awaited Cosplay for A Cause on November 15–16. A colorful and interesting blend of contestants included cosplayers from all grade levels representing Philippine pop culture, Asian/ English-American/ European literatures and alternative literature.

Students reveled as they feasted their eyes and mind on characters from the Grade 7: Crisostomo Ibarra and Maria Clara, Nathaniel, Ibarro and the Sangres of Encantadia, Lam-ang and Ines Cannoyan.

Grade 8 cosplayers brought to life Mineko Iwasaki and Cleopatra as well as popular characters from Naruto, Assassination Classroom, Aladdin and Kung Fu Panda.

The Grade 9 set proved to be even more promising with characters from popular series such as The Hunger Games and The Chronicles of Narnia, with Robin Hood and Pocahontas in tow.

The Grade 10 cosplayers featured Belle, the Seven Dwarves, Winnie the Pooh and Greek Mythology’s mighty Achilles, the beautiful Helen of Troy and the fearsome Medusa.

Finally, the showstoppers from Grade 11 wowed the audience with the presence of popular horror figures Annabelle and Valak, trendsetting figures from Team Rocket, Cartoon Network’s HIM and the Power Puff Girls and a surprising treat from Majin Buu of Dragon Ball Z.

Watch out for the announcement of winners during the Awarding ceremonies of the Humanities celebration come January 2017.

The Social Science and Language Units sponsored a joint extemporaneous speaking contest as part of the kick–off activities slated for the Humanities celebration on November 25–26, 2016. The November 15 contest saw students from Grades 7–10 battling it out to be this year’s best in public speaking skills.

Champaca’s Avita Manio won Best Speaker in Category A, adding to Team Sultan’s roster of winnings. For Category B, Betina Pascual of Grade 10–Gluon was adjudged Best Speaker and earned the same for Team Lakan.

In celebration of November as the Humanities Month, the Language Unit organized a series of quiz bees to enrich students’ language and literary skills.

Round 1 was held on October 26, 2016 with Team Sultan’s 40 points conquering the initial team standings as Lakan Tanglaw–Diwa trailed closely behind with 36 points. The mini events included a Rebus segment, a pronunciation bee, an all–Filipino quiz bee, and the boggles round.

Round 2 was held on November 2 featuring a no–holds barred literary quiz bee. Team Sultan sealed their 74–point victory with a close fight against Datu Bigkis-Lahi’s 73 points. Team Lakan fared well enough to score 69 points overall.

Victors from Team Sultan were led by Spica students Enrico Salvador and Cedric Catacutan, with members that included Ruby freshmen Greg Agustin and Ianna Cariño, Champaca sophomores Carl Mamuri and Avita Manio, Einsteinium juniors Trigger Balitang and Zam Saddul, and Graviton seniors Joana Biado and Lou Gunayon.
