A Grade 11 student of Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus placed second in Dagitab 2021: Electrical and Electronics Engineering High School Virtual Camp 2021 conducted via Zoom from August 29 to September 25, 2021.

Mercijo Roma F. Macadangdang of 11-Spica belonged to the top 40 students of the hundreds of registrants from all over the country, whose team won second in the said event.

The organizers grouped the participants into teams composed of one representative each from NCR, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Macadangdang was assigned to Team 1 which they called Team 1CH1BAN, a term derived from the Japanese word ichiban which means number one.

When asked to describe her Dagitab experience, Macadangdang said she was amazed at how the organizers pulled off the event, especially the Circuits and Robotics part conducted in an online setup.

“The examples of the assessment got me motivated to continue to join as they were unique and had just the right mix of challenge that kept us interested,” she added.

Miss Dianne Rose A. Bangloy, Computer Science teacher and academic unit head of the Computer Science Unit, was the coach of Macadangdang in the said contest.

Dagitab is a workshop and competition for senior high school students consisted of a series of interactive lectures and workshops that provided the participants knowledge on the importance of electrical and electronics engineering (EEE) and its role in providing quality lives.

The library of Philippine Science School has finally found its permanent home in the newly constructed library building.

From a single-room library, it transferred to a three-storey structure that now provides enough space for the increasing number of scholars, employees, and resources.

The first level of the new library building has a deposit area, storage room, circulation area, reading area, non-fiction area, general references area, and most of the library collections such as general collection books and Filipiniana books.

The second floor is a fully air-conditioned area that has a wider and cozy study zone, and where the fiction books are also shelved. A room that can accommodate a whole class is also on the second floor.

The third floor offers more reading space, a computer room, and a faculty and staff area.

The new library building is located in an elevation that offers a breathtaking view overlooking the municipality of Bayombong.

On October 25, 2021, the Student Services Division, through Ms. Graziella D. Villa, conducted a library orientation for the students, where library services, rule, and guidelines were discussed.

A virtual tour featuring the new library in its new location and the resources and amenities were shown to the students, faculty and staff via Zoom as the finale of the library orientation program.

In the virtual tour video, Ms. Villa stated, “Hopefully, we are praying that this pandemic will be over and I will see you soon,” addressing to the students who have not been in campus for two years because of the pandemic.

The school librarian also said that last August and September 2021, 320 units of new library materials were purchased. These books were recommended by the faculty members as references in their respective subjects.

Now housed in its new building, and filled with a growing collection of library materials, the library is now ready to welcome the students in due time.
