SNC crowned champion in Pisay Quiz Show 4.0

Santiago North Central School SPED Center bagged first place during the Pisay Quiz Show 2015 conducted in SM Cauayan on September 12, 2015.
The team composed of Ronette Gatbunton, Wisdom Abella and Jasper Dela Cruz cruised past other contender after posting consistent performance in all the rounds of the Finals.
Among the 16 competitors, the pupils of Ms. Cherry Bawiga dominated other participants after tallying 68 points.
Trailing at second place is the team from Philippine Yuh Chiau School composed of Danielle Liwanag, Ramon Tan and Alexandra Lee and coach Marines Cafirma who accumulated 59 points.
Meanwhile, Advanced Montessori Education Center of Isabela which included Raiza Pamittan, Angela Managuelod and Noriko Caliguiran with their coach Junelyn Salvador ranked third after scoring two points behind the second placers.
Pisay Quiz Show aimed not only to review the aspiring Pisay scholars but also to inspire the possible future Pisay scholars of Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus (PSHS – CVC).
Schools from all over the region with three representatives each were invited to join the elimination rounds held in each division.

Pisay scholars showcase ST projects in NSTW

Students from different Philippine Science High School campuses showcased different outputs or presentations during the National Science Technology Week 2015 held at SMX, Pasay City from July 25 to 28, 2015.
PSHS–CVC students are included in the list of the students–exhibitors with their prepared series of outputs relating to either Physics or Chemistry.
Aside from them, students from different PSHS campuses all over the country also brought exhibits which are dominantly composed of robotics and programming.
Before the presentations at the venue, the PSHS students–exhibitors gathered in the Lola's Hall at the Mabuhay Manor Hotel and were oriented last on July 26, 2015.
Rommell Ross Oba of the PSHS–Office of the Executive Director gave some reminders and thoughts about the NSTW exhibit.
"You are here not to compete with your fellow batch mates but to showcase your talents and skills in Science and Technology," said Oba to the exhibitors.
The audience during the exhibit came from different schools inside and outside Metro Manila and some of the pupils and students were actually attended the fair as part of their field trip.

Lumanlan, Catacutan land 3rd in PRO, qualify in WRO

Cedric John Marc P. Catacutan and John Paolo A. Lumanlan, Grade 10 students of Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus snatched 3rd Place amoung 93 participants of the Philippine Robotics Olympics (PRO) held in SM North Edsa on September 9–11, qualifying them to join the World Robotics' Olympics (WRO).
Catacutan and Lumanlan, who composed of CVC's Team A of the Treasure Hunt Category, ranked 13th in the preliminaries.
However, they garnered 70 and 20 points in the final round putting them to 3rd place.
The victory gave them the opportunity to represent the Philippines in the WRO 2015 to be held in Doha, Qatar this November, 2015.
Among the other participants were Reymar Melchor M. Tutaan and Jane Guerrero (10th graders), CVC's Team B who grabbed 11th place in the preliminary round and were also finalists of the PRO.
Mr. Jenshiam Balgua stated that working with the team was unproblematic and he also talked about the possible advancements they look forward to.
"We are ought to learn the EV3 Platform in order to leverage its advanced capabilities para magkaroon sila ng mas malaking winning chances at more fighting edge sa World Competition," quoted coach Balgua.
Tutaan labeled their coach as "a very, very dedicated coach and teacher".
In the last ten years, this is the first time that a team of PSHS–CVC will compete in the WRO.

CVC hosts joint GAD Program, dominates sportsfest

With the vision of promoting gender equality in the levels of the playing field, Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus (PSHS–CVC) hosted a joint Gender And Development (GAD) Activity in Baguio City on dates July 14–15.
Among the participants were teachers and staff from the different PSHS campuses namely Ilocos Region (IRC), Cagayan Valley (CVC), Cordillera Administrative Region (CARC) and the Office of the Executive Director (OED) itself.
In purpose of allowing the participants to finally be able to meet each other, PSHS–CVC along with the OED organized fellowship party and opening program in Brentwood Apartelle on the first day of the event.
On the other hand, the second day started and ended with UP Los Baños' Gender Director, Dr. Maria Helen F. Dayo's discussion in promotion of gender equality.
Among the topics tackled were the overviews on education, education and equality and educational programs for women who may or may not have encountered stereotypes.
As the highlight of the event, the third day served as another opportunity to create another interaction among the participants as all were given the chance to battle each other through sports.
PSHS–CVC dominated the sports fest by clinching the titles in basketball and volleyball. IRC dominated the chess tournament and CARC kegglers bagged the title in bowling.
