Teachers of the Philippine Science High School ‐ Cagayan Valley Campus (PSHS‐CVC) shared their expertise in their profession as they served as speakers in the week-long teachers’ training.

 

Two teachers of PSHS-CVC participated as paper presenters in the National Teachers’ Convention (NTC) 2023, Mr. Jenshiam E. Balgua, Special Science Teacher III, and Dr. Heherson Tolentino, Special Science Teacher IV, who presented their respective studies during this annual gathering of teachers of the PSHS System.

 

Balgua, a perennial trainer of students for project ideation competitions, discussed the topic Active Transfer of NXThinking Knowledge to High School Research Practice via Hybrid Workshop. His presentation stems from his experience of conducting training for high school students in the province of Isabela.

 

Tolentino, on the other hand, shared the essential elements of his dissertation in the presentation entitled Analysis of Swear Words among Filipino Students: A Basis for Values Integration Program. This is the result of his dissertation from his Doctor of Philosophy major in Language Studies degree.

 

Four other teachers discussed best teaching practices and trends during the campus in-service training dubbed as Esteemed 2023 (Establishing Teamwork, Empowering Educators).

 

Ms. Melahnie C. Agraam, SST III from the English Unit shared her best teaching practices in her presentation “Stories for Smiles,” lessons about the different approaches in teaching.

 

Mr. Lyndon Lazaro, SST IV from the Mathematics Unit, presented his sharing entitled “Stimulate to Elevate” where he shared some online apps that can be used to enrich teaching and assessment.

 

Ms. Genalyn Alice Viloria, SST V from the Chemistry Unit, discussed important points on establishing the classroom as a conducive place for learning through her talk entitled “In the Shoes of my Children”.

 

Mr. Gil de Luna, SST IV from the Computer Science Unit, explained updates on the Student Information System (SIS) of the PSHS System.

 

This year’s three-day NTC focused on the theme “Moving F.O.R.W.A.R.D. to a Future-Proof STEM Education was held from August 14-16 via Zoom, while Esteemed 2023 was conducted in-person at the PSHS-CVC gymnasium from August 17-18, 2023.#
