While other schools are already in the middle of their first quarter academic year, Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus is still prepping up its faculty, staff and its facilities for the opening of classes on August 1, 2016.

Academic sessions, re–echoing of seminars, meetings and seminars were lined up to ready the employees for the next school year through the institutionalized HEADSTART that ran from July 25-29, 2016.

Dr. Aimee Marie C. Gragasin, Chief of the Curriculum and Instruction Services Division welcomed the teachers from their midyear vacation and updated them about concerns for the next school year in the opening program.

Mr. Harold V. Gallo, Chief of Student Services Division presented the School Calendar, followed by discussion of administrative matters facilitated by Mr. Raymundo DC. Manaligod, Chief of the Finance and Administrative Services Division in the morning of Day 1.

Dr. Salvador B. Romo, Campus Director, presided a meeting in the afternoon updating and reminding the employees about old and new academic and administrative concerns.

Program Coordinator, Mrs. Alice Manuel, discussed the new program of the senior year curriculum called SCALE in Day 2.

An Open House Exhibit in accordance with the celebration of the Science and Technology Week (NSTW) was hosted by the school in which hundreds of pupils and students from Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and Isabela visited the interactive exhibits prepared by the faculty and staff in Day 3.

A Seminar–Workshop on Test Construction and Test Measurements was conducted in Day 4 with Dr. Jane D. Navalta, Professor of Nueva Vizcaya State University–Bayombong Campus served as resource speaker.

The last day of the activities punctuated with seminar workshops on New Trends in Teaching Strategies in SMCT and Humanities with Dr. Mercelita V. Orden, Vice President for Academic Affairs of PLT College and Ms. Zayda S. Asuncion, Professor of Saint Mary’s University-Bayombong, serving as resource speakers.

Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus lauded its scholars who exemplified excellence in curricular and extra-curricular activities during its 17th Recognition Day held last May 20, 2016 at SMU Tonus Gym, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

Eighty eight (88) scholars made it to the Director’s List where 23 were Grade 7s, 36 Grade 8s, 14 Grade 9s and 15 Grade 10 scholars.

Additionally, 10 perpetual DLs emerged from the Grade 7, meanwhile 5, 2 and 7 scholars from Grades 8, 9, and 10, respectively.

Engineer Charleston Dale Ambatali of PSHS CVC Batch 2011 and UP Diliman Batch 2016, who ranked second during the ECE 2016 board exams, graced the event as the guest speaker.

Ambatali delivered a speech about his own high school and college struggles and discussed how those experiences enabled him to achieve what he has become now.

Furthermore, Edrian Paul Liao, Top DL of the freshmen, received the DOST YES Gold Medal Award and Mark Ely Namoro, Fusion Core Group President, obtained the PSYSY Excellence in Youth Science Leadership Award.

“I want to prove that any kid can do all these things with just intelligence and hard work,” Liao proudly expressed when asked about his accomplishments.

Natatanging Lingkod Parangal was given to Karlo Alonzo Guiang for serving as the Supreme Student Government President during academic year.

Along with Guiang, other Lingkod Parangal awardees included Namoro, Jarius Redmar Garcia, Aika Fritz Bejosano, Precious Jane Guerrero and Cyril Francis Wakit.

Grade 9 DL Beaver Sean Caraan said that “achieving is one thing but living up to that achievement is a different matter. It’s up to us, scholars, if we prove our self worthy of the awards we were given”.

Various citations were also given to a number of scholars who represented the school in division, regional, national and international levels.

The recognition was dubbed as DOTA: Day Of The Achievers.

From 46 to 45. Some were out of the list while new names made it.

The 2nd Quarter Card Giving Day highlighted with the awarding of the Directors Listers last January 15, 2016 at the Multi-purpose hall of Academic Building 2 of Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus.

From 20 awardees during the 1st Quarter, the Grade 7 scholars led the awardees anew with 19 DLs.

12 Grade 8, three Grade 9 and 11 Grade 10 scholars round up the awardees for this quarter.

The Card Giving was also highlighted by school updates courtesy of SSD Chief, Mr. Harold V. Gallo and CISD Chief, Dr. Aimee Marie C. Gragasin.

Mrs. Girlmelyn A. Javier, Discipline Officer, also reminded the scholars and their parents about discipline matters.

Parent-teacher consultations, SSIP meeting and reorganization of General Parents Teachers and Community Association and Dormer Parents Association took place after the awarding program.

Dra. Gina Rosimo was elected GPTCA President while Fiscal Benifroi Pascual is the new DPA president.

Judge Marivic Beltran graced the occasion to witness the election of new set of officers and to turn over the reins of the GPTCA.

Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus’ cream of the crop in Math, lorded in the 2016 Division Math Challenge and Math Festival of Nueva Vizcaya last January 15–16, 2016 held at Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School.

PSHS–CVC stamped its might and ran away with a whopping 112 aggregate points.

Solano High trailed behind as 1st Runner Up with 68 points and NVGCHS secured 2nd Runner Up title with 58 points.

Eight (8) students qualified to the Division Orals slated on February 5, 2016.

The contested activities included MTAP Math Challenge, Master Your Skills, Math Relay, Math 24, Damath, Kakuro and Tower of Hanoi, for all grade levels.

The Math Unit composed of Dr. Maricel D. Bata, Ms. Maureen Joy C. Collado, Mr. Ronald M. Navalta, Mr. Orcene D. Cancino, Mrs. Rosalinda O. Luwang and Mr. Russel Owen B. Viloria trained the students.

Mr. Harold V. Gallo (center front row) is hailed as the Most Outstanding Secondary School Paper Adviser of Region 2 during the 2015 RSPC, February 13–16, 2015. .

The official student publication in English, The Pisay Explorer, inked its second overall title in three years, and the official student newsletter in Filipino, Ang Siklab, returned on a winning note, while Mr. Harold V. Gallo was hailed as region 2’s best secondary paper adviser, in this year’s Regional Schools Press Conference held last December 13–16, 2015 at Santiago City, Isabela.

The Pisay Explorer, Cagayan Valley’s best school paper in Secondary English Category, received 1st place in Lay–out and Page Design and Science and Technology sections; 2nd place in News and Editorial sections, and 5th place in Feature and Sports sections.

On the other hand, Ang Siklab, PSHS CVC’s official school publication in Filipino, landed in 6th place overall.

The official school publication in Filipino, grabbed 3rd place in News section, 6th place in Scietech section and 5th in Sports, Feature, Editorial and Layout and Page Design categories.

Meanwhile, Gallo, The Pisay Explorer Adviser, proved that third time’s the charm, as he copped the 2015 Most Outstanding School Paper Adviser plum.

“My passion to write, lead and serve will continue to flare up. This is for Pisay–CVC, Nueva Vizcaya and my family,” said Gallo.

According to Gallo, achieving success is a process. “Journalism develops discipline and competitive spirit and leadership in me. It pushed me to strive harder and put time and dedication to be able to succeed”.

Ang Siklab is 6th Best in RSPC, Gallo is RO2's MOSPA, to receive award in Koronadal.

With the win, the official newsletters of qualify to the National Schools Press Conference in Koronadal, South Cotabato on February 22–26, 2016.

The awarding of Gallo, together with the outstanding school paper advisers and student journalists of other region will also happen during the NSPC.

Last year, The Pisay Explorer won 4th Place in Feature Section and 5th Place in News Section.
