A Batch 2015 alumna of Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus (PSHS–CVC) copped the 4th spot in the October 2021 Metallurgical Engineering Licensure Examination.

Kasel V. Balubal, CVC alumna from Tuguegarao City and a Metallurgical Engineering graduate of the University of the Philippines Diliman, took the exams through face–to–face modality conducted in Manila on October 2–4, 2021.

In a virtual interview, Engr. Balubal revealed that one of the challenges she had to deal with before and during the exam was balancing her time between studying and working for a non-government organization.

She said she also became anxious about the exam, felt down, and thought she did bad that she might not even get a passing grade.

When asked about the factors that paved her way to landing fourth in the exams, she said, "My goal was only to pass. Being a topnotcher was only a low-key goal for me."

She has been away from home for nine years for her high school and college education, and she thanks her family for always being very supportive to her.

She also thanked her friends that even in the time of pandemic, she had a strong support system. Even if their engagements were limited to virtual meetings, discord calls, and online sharing of notes, she knew she was around people who understood her.

Her words of inspiration to the current Pisay students who would like to follow her path was simple but meaningful, "do the best that you are able to and don’t forget to rest. If you find it hard to believe in yourself, then believe in the people who believe in you."#
