The teaching personnel of Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus (PSHS-CVC) prepare for the new school year as they attend the week-long teachers’ training, both in the system and campus levels.

 

The National Teachers’ Convention (NTC) 2023 was a systemwide training where discussions revolve around the theme “Moving F.O.R.W.A.R.D. to a future-proof STEM education” held from August 14-16, 2023 via Zoom.

 

Day 1 was filled with discussions of experts on the more specific topic “Exemplary Future-Proof Practices of PSHS.” During Day 2, the experts’ talks were centered on the PSHS Scholars as Future-Proof Learners, and on Day 3, the discussions were about “Increasing the Global Competitiveness of PSHS”.

 

Plenary and breakout sessions were held to discuss the different topics in the three-day convention.

 

Following the system-wide teachers’ convention was the in-service training of the PSHS-CVC teachers dubbed as Esteemed 2023 (Establishing Teamwork, Empowering Educators) held on August 17-18, 2023.

 

The two-day campus-level activity was filled with updates from the chiefs – CID Report and Updates presented by Mr. Garry Jun M. Mayawin, the CID Chief; School Calendar discussed by Dr. Harold V. Gallo, the SSD Chief, and Class Schedule presented by Mr. Jay-ar A.Mapilis, the Asst. CID Chief for Academic Affairs.

 

Three teachers also shared their best teaching practices – Ms. Melahnie C. Agraam from the English Unit shared her presentation called Stories for Smiles; Mr Lyndon L. Lazaro from the Mathematics Unit shared discussed “Stimulate to Elevate”; and Ms. Genalyn Alice Viloria from the Chemistry Unit presented “In the Shoes of my Children.”

 

The said teachers were among the best-performing mentors, and their sharing were meant to address the common waterloos of teachers based on student evaluation data.

 

Mr. Gil de P. de Luna, Computer Science Teacher the head of the Management Information System, presented the updates on the Student Information System (SIS) of the PSHS System.

 

A Motivational Activity was also slated on the second day of the inset where Mr. Gerome H. Bautista, the head of the Department of Professional Education of Saint Mary’s University, steered the fun and meaningful activities that fueled the teachers to be more driven and inspired, especially for the new school year.

 

Series of meetings followed in the afternoon as part of the back-to-school preparations of the various academic units and the homeroom advisers and coordinators.#
