With school pride at stake, team Marians clinched the championship game against the home team, Pisay Templars, 79–73 last August 2, 2019 at the school’s Multi–purpose Hall.

It was a close match until the Marians went on back to back treys to break the deadlock at 71–apiece under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter to create a cushion, 77–71, against the undermanned Templars.

Finals MVP Dennis Abosejo led the charge for the eventual champions with a stellar performance, 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a block.

The swarming defense of the Marians focused on Templars’ go to guy Harold Gallo in their attempt to limit his offense and tire him up.

“Their game plan was to cage and limit me on the offensive end, nakakapagod kasi madami silang nagsasalit – salitan para bantayan ako. Kahit talo I am happy that the tournament went well,” said Gallo who earned the Season MVP with his season average 23 points, 7.66 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.

Versatile point forward Jesse Brian Basilio and Mythical Five member Lucky Aron George Damaso helped the Templars in the offensive attack while Gallo was stifled by multiple defenders.

Gallo (Pisay), Abosejo (SMU), Damaso (Pisay), Michael Cabatin (Muirwoods Academy) and Wency Evangelista (SMU) round up the Mythical Selection of the season.

The maiden edition of the inter–school employees’ basketball tournament was participated by Saint Mary’s University, Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus, Muirwoods Academy and Purisimo L. Tiam College Inc. (PLTCI) and was sponsored by PSHS–CVC and Chicken George Restaurant.#
