Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus launched its Science Odyssey highlighted by activities anchored on the theme "science for the people", August 1–3, 2017 at its campus.

Elementary pupils and junior high school students from different divisions of Cagayan Valley competed in S&T project pitching, laboratory skills assessment and poster presentations.

The two day activities also featured exhibits and demonstrations of teachers through an Open House in Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Technology, Computer Science and Research.

"Help us build a better community through science and technology" said Engr. Sancho Mabborang, Regional Director of DOST Region 2, during the opening program.

In his speech, he also emphasized that Region 2 depends so much on agriculture and pointed out how science, technology and research have a tremendous impact in the region and in the country as a whole.

The winners in the contested activities will be awarded during the NSTW regional celebration to be held at Cauayan City, Isabela on August 14–17, 2017.

The launching of the Science Odyssey is in consonance with the celebration of National Science and Technology Week which is anchored on the practical use of various technological products and research output.

The activities lined up for this year's NSTW are science and technology fora on agriculture, health, nutrition, disaster preparedness management, and manufacturing.

A series of regional science and technology fairs will also be held in every region in the country until December, which aims to give the public a unique experience on how science and technology work for a better life.
