The Philippine Science High School-Cagayan Valley Campus community celebrated the 27th Founding Anniversary commemoration on September 8, 2023 at the Multi-purpose Gymnasium.

Opening the celebration was the Holy Spirit Mass which was a thanksgiving for the school’s accomplishments through the years, and an invocation for blessings and guidance as the new school year begins.

The mass was followed by the program that highlighted the campus’ transformations in the last 27 years.

In his welcome message, Mr. Erick John H. Marmol, the campus director, lauded the entire PSHS-CVC community for its relentless efforts in advancing the welfare of students and for living the culture of excellence then until now.

The provincial governor, Hon. Jose “Jing” Gambito, represented by Hon. Roland Carub, board member of Nueva Vizcaya, sent his message of felicitations to the school, and the provincial government’s support to the campus, especially to students who create innovative projects that benefit the community.

Symbols of gratitude were also accorded to two of the distinguished personalities who have made PSHS-CVC to what it is today – former governor Carlos M. Padilla and Dr. Salvador B. Romo.

Padilla, during the time he was serving as representative of the Lone District of Nueva Vizcaya authored laws that established the Nueva Vizcaya Science High School, the precursor of now known as PSHS-CVC.

He also legislated the transformation of the NVSHS to one of the campuses of Philippine Science High School, and eventually its incorporation into the PSHS System.

Dr. Salvador B. Romo, who served as campus director from 2008 to 2021, propelled the campus to its infrastructure development, thus completing most of the buildings and facilities during his two consecutive terms.

Mr. Marmol recognized the unparalleled dedication of the two prominent figures of PSHS-CVC whose efforts have paved the way for the campus’ status to date.

The widows of the two fathers of PSHS-CVC were present during the program to receive the posthumous award of gratitude from the PSHS-CVC community.

Mrs. Ruth Padilla, the wife of the late Gov. Padilla, expressed her gratitude for the recognition that the campus conferred to his husband.

In her acceptance message, she assured that despite the loss of her husband, she will remain the mother of PSHS-CVC, and that she will continue to give support to the school, the same way that her husband used to extend.

“Kahit wala na ang Ama ng institusyong ito, huwag ninyong kakalimutan na nandito pa rin ang Ina,” Mrs. Padilla quipped.

Mrs. Catherine Romo, the wife of the late campus director Salvador B. Romo, recounted the instances her husband sacrificed much of his time for PSHS-CVC, and his unwavering commitment to enhance the human and physical resources of the school.

The Filipino Unit presented a creative reminiscence of PSHS-CVC through a video presentation with poetic transcript, encapsulating the campus’ metamorphosis and future opportunities.

Representatives from the different year levels also read their pledge and message of love for the PSHS-CVC.

The program concluded with a lively community singing of the song “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You” spearheaded by the PEHM Unit.#
